Chest Plate

Our Game Gear Chest Plates are designed to protect the dogs neck and chest, while allowing free movement in the legs. Made from several layers of 12oz canvas, these vests are strong, but light. Velcro fastening round neck, and clips around top of the dogs shoulders. This vest also has loops and a protective sleeve for fitting tracking gear around the neck.

They are designed to be used with Tracking Collars, so not just designed for rope dogs. Finders that dont mind getting stuck in before back up arrives are a good candidate for our Chest Plates.

Dogs normally take two hunts before they are happy with wearing these vet bill saving tools. We recommend letting your dog wear it around the house for a few hours when you first get your Chest Plate.

We are now offering a custom made Chest Plate for $279.  Please use the size guide to select the closest fit from Custom Small, Custom Medium or Custom Large.

How Custom Fit works:

We will send you out a sample chest plate in your chosen size for you to try on your dog.  Please take some photos of the dog in the sample chest plate, and email them along with any comments you have to sales@gamegear.co.nz.  We will assess the photos and make recommendations to our manufacturing team who will begin production of your custom chest plate.  You will receive an email from us advising you that your chest plate is underway and the areas we have amended.  Then please return the sample chest plate using the courier label supplied.

Please allow 2 weeks for delivery of custom chest plates.

good bit of gear, needs a little refinement

good, solid, well made vest. probably the best value one that's made in NZ.
two more straps would make it a lot better, and one problem I've had is if the dog goes through a fence line the fence wire over top of her unclips the main strap every time and the vest falls most the way off the dog. This can probably be avoided by moving the clip round under the dog's body, time will tell. I see the last guy to review the vest said pretty much the same thing, so it might be worth looking at. velcro might be the go.

Matt - after clipping the strap closed slide the strap around so the plastic clip is under the side pannel - we use a plastic clip as the webbing strap has a 300kg breaking strain - basically if your dog gets hooked up the plastic clip will break and allow the dog to get free, otherwise it is stuck there forever. Velcro and or buckles mean the dog has no way to free itself should it get hung up.

Chest plate review

Hi,
the chest plate that I have received is to long in the neck for my dog and doesn't alow enough movement for her to stride out. The clips on the back of the dog also get caught on low trees branches, so I have turned it onto the side of the dog so the clip is covered. I think it is a very good product but if I had brought my dog for it to be fitted it would of been even better.

No more vet bills

Really well made protection for my main finder, but had to remove the chin shield as my dog found it hard to breath with it on.
I run other dogs with these vests and they have save my dogs lives on many occasions
