Stop the bleed, get your dog home.

A torn ear, a barbed-wire gash, a split pad, a deep graze off the scrub, hunting dogs pick up cuts that bleed more than you'd expect, usually a fair way from the truck.

This Chitosan Hemostatic Gauze Pad is a simple bit of kit for exactly that. Press it onto the wound and the chitosan helps the blood clot fast, so you can settle the bleeding and get your dog back down to the vet.

Size: 7.5cm × 10cm
Sterile, single-use
Shelf life: 3 years
For temporary external use only
One pad per pouch

Description

Stop the bleed, get your dog home.

A torn ear, a barbed-wire gash, a split pad, a deep graze off the scrub, hunting dogs pick up cuts that bleed more than you'd expect, usually a fair way from the truck.

This Chitosan Hemostatic Gauze Pad is a simple bit of kit for exactly that. Press it onto the wound and the chitosan helps the blood clot fast, so you can settle the bleeding and get your dog back down to the vet.

The chitosan granules are bonded to the high density gauze pad and designed to stop bleeding.

One sterile pad to carry in your hunting pack or first aid kit. Works on people too, same pad, same job.

What it does

  • Rapid clotting - chitosan binds to red blood cells and helps form a clot fast, working even when natural clotting can't keep up.
  • Soaks up blood quickly - so you can see the wound and keep the area clean.
  • Easy on, easy off - applies in seconds and lifts away without tearing the wound back open.
  • Marine-derived chitosan, generates no heat - won't burn the surrounding skin.
  • Sterile & single-use - individually sealed, 7.5cm × 10cm, 3-year shelf life (date on the pouch).

Best for: cuts, grazes and lacerations, plus smaller wounds that are bleeding heavily. For temporary external use only.

How to use on a dog

  1. Tear the pouch open.
  2. Press the pad firmly onto the wound.
  3. Hold firm, direct pressure until the bleeding stops. Have a mate steady or hold the dog, even a good dog reacts to a sore spot.
  4. Bandage over the top and get to a vet.

This is first-aid to help control bleeding, it doesn't replace veterinary or medical care. If bleeding is severe or won't stop, get professional help straight away.
